Nothing in this world is random.

Even the movement of a proton is deterministic.

The is a reason for everything. The reason could be good or could be bad. Just because there is a reason for bad thing to happen, doesn’t make it good.

The world we live is more than 3-dimension. But our senses cannot sense beyond the 3rd dimension.

But the Bible says God gives us the task of discerning the reasons behind what is seen:

Ecclesiastes 1:13

13And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

Proverbs 25:2

2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

A bout of anger, depression, joy, or whatever. An inspiration. An epiphany. A breakthrough. An encounter. Everything has its spiritual root. It can be from the devils, or it can be from God.

I believe that spiritual forces have been shaping our world more than we imagine.

That’s why we have to live by faith, use our discernment instead sights, and receive daily instruction from God to fight the spiritual war.

I think it actually pleases God if you explain your frustration (politely, as a matter-of-fact-ly, no bad-mouthing or complaining) about Him to Him.

Recently I had yet another unanswered prayer. I thought God was telling me that He wanted me to travel to Washington DC for a revival meeting, and impressed upon me that I can look up to Him for the plane ticket and other expenses.

So I told my prayer partner about this and asked him to pray with me for this and together look up to God for the money for the trip.

Days passed, the revival meeting was underway, but no plane ticket, no money from any source.

Just last night I read the testimony of George Muller (1805-1898) and he explained how he wanted to demonstrate the power and faithfulness of God, by running an orphanage without any fund raise but simply by trusting God to provide for the expense, and if you read his biography, you know he did it.

Today, his charity fund is still vibrant and actively supporting missionaries.

I want to live this kind of life too. So I confronted God, and asked Him why He didn’t answer our prayer and provide for our travel expense to Washington DC.

I will probably get an answer for Him later, but folks, I encourage you to do the same thing. Don’t let any unanswered prayer go without seeking God and asking Him to reveal to you fully the reason why.

Maybe God has something better in store for you. Maybe you did something wrong. Maybe your prayer life is feeble. It’s better to know than to be ignorant.

How many unanswered prayers have you been hiding in the closet?

So did God really tell me to go to Washington DC? Did I mishear him? If so, God, how can I listen better next time?

Get into the detail. Be meticulous. Don’t let things go.

I am sure this is how godly men become godly. They don’t assume things. If things aren’t right, they don’t pretend it’s okay and try to find some excuses for God. God doesn’t need our feeble excuses.
In later posts, I am going to share some bible verses that further explain the lesson in this post.

There Christians usually were under a curse, tracing back to their ancestors or their own previous sins. If they found out the sins that caused these curses, they can break them in the name of Christ, and the curses would be broken, and they will quickly get a breakthrough.

Faith without knowledge doesn’t really perform.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

You can have consistent faith, and keep failing one time after another, and another, and another, for many years, until you die (probably die before your time, too). What you pray for will get held up somewhere in the spiritual realm before they manifest in your reality. The demons held them up, and they had the legal right to do so (Daniel 10:12-13).

You do everything the church teaches you to do, and maybe more, but still, results don’t add up. Unless the church really obey and listen to everything Jesus tells her, you don’t stand a chance. Religious organization is both deadly and dead.

Why? because you don’t know what you miss. You faith is genuine, but you didn’t know all the rules in the spiritual realm, so you fail.

There was a famine during the days of king David, and the reason was because of the sin of previous king, Saul, who killed some Gibeonites. The Gibeonites wasn’t part of Israel, but the Israelites had sworn protection to them, yet king Saul ignored this pact and killed them, so it brought about a famine in David’s time (2 Samuel 21:1-6).

David found out what was going on behind the famine, and did what was necessary to undo the curse, and the Israel was delivered from the famine.

If David failed to discern the reason behind the famine, he could be praying for rain for the nation, over and over again, but to no avail.

Now, a lot of Christians inherited curses from their parents and ancestors. These curses shouldn’t have any more legal right in our lives, since we have become God’s children through Christ, but if we don’t actively break them in the name of Jesus and apply His blood over them we will remain under the curses.

What if we weren’t as smart as David? We would be praying over and over again for success, deliverance, healing, blessings, and whatever, but with the curses working against us, we most probably will not get the answers of our prayers and will fail to be light and salt to the world. (I was a good example. I thought I was in love with God, and I heard Him everyday, but that didn’t automatically nullify the curses nor cancel my inherited moral weaknesses )

The world will only see us get entangled by all kind of addictions, diseases, failures, mediocrity, depressions, and etc, but they would just think we were lazy and just waiting to get into heaven.

But we might not even make it to heaven.

Satan can send his demons to attach or influence authorities figures in your life and cause them to curse you verbally (Usually in the form of vent or tease). Words spoken by authorities over you can make you and break you. Sadly, today’s culture doesn’t acknowledge the power of spoken words. People pay too little respect to the words they say. They actually think teasing people is humor.

Many ancient cultures recognize the power of witchcraft, oath, blessings, and verbal curses. Gossip is a form of witchcraft, for example, and it is believed that cursing can cause the target person to suffer exactly the curse is designed to make him suffer.

Let’s say, “Die” and that person will develop strange fatal disease or die by accident. No wonder we have so many kind of strange diseases and health problems today. Car accidents and abortions also took many lives each year.

My dad isn’t a Christian yet, and he often tease me with words such as, “The Lord is going to kick you into Hell, cuz you pray too much you annoyed Him”. I thought it was just harmless teasing, but looking back, these words did cause me to do things or consider things that can disqualify me from heaven and make me go to Hell, if I remained ignorance and unrepentant.

I knew those things were wrong, but I kept doing them. I didn’t know why but I was hopelessly addicted to them. I could never really get freed from activities that could make me go to Hell if I died while committing any of those sins.

I wouldn’t even think about many of those sins nor get addicted to them if the words from my dad didn’t have effects on me. My dad’s words must have a binding effect on me.

Also there were a number of curses and sins of my ancestors I had discovered that related to a number of my moral weaknesses.

The Bible makes it very obvious that parental blessing or curse has real and lasting effect on children (Genesis 9:18-27; Genesis 27:12).

Thank God, although curses of all kind are prevalent and inevitable in today’s world, grace abound even more (Romans 5:12). We have authority in Christ. If we exercise our legal right we can confess the sins of our ancestors and parents, apply the blood of Christ over all curses, break the curses (verbal or inheritable), and replace them with blessings.

John 10:10, The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

I just recently learned how much the thief was actually able to steal and rob from us: family, joy, opportunities, accomplishment, relationship, honor, health, peace, spiritual blessings (such as visions, calling, gifts), time (in the unit of year), purity, and all that.

For example, sexual abuse of children is ultimately the enemy stealing innocence from children. It disables many children even after they grow up.

What should we do? God will do His part, but if we do our part, He will be able to do even more. God needs our co-labor to perform to His fullest.

One of the things that He needs us to do is to exercise our legal rights. As His children, we are like a person who inherited billions of dollars, but doesn’t really understand the authority and legal process that enable her to enjoy the money.

If an evil lawyer try to swindle our inheritance away from that child, the child needs to defend herself with her legal right.

Here is the legal right for Christians:

Joel 2:25 I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—

The Lord promised that He will repay you for all the years that has been wasted due to sabotage and robbery of the enemy, or your own mistakes, or both.

Proverbs 6: 30-31 People do not despise a thief. If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving. Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold;

The Law requires that if a thief is caught, he needs to repay sevenfold.

If we ask God, He will let us know what exactly Satan has stolen from us, and we can appeal to God. We will receive restoration from the Lord Himself, and sevenfold from the enemy.

It sure hurts the kingdom of Satan.

Earthly success and heavenly success isn’t always in conflict, but the former usually overshadow the latter.

A preacher may forget how to love the little ones when he starts counting the many souls he has won for Christ. Yet it is the little ones who would have been his greatest heavenly investment had he invested himself in them.

Having earthly success is hard, but having heavenly success is both harder and easier.

If we spend every moment of our earthly life in the love of God, that’s alone will earn us great reward in heaven. It’s that simple. Yet it’s hardest thing for us to focus on.

It’s relatively easier to earn financial success, relationship success, and career success. These kind of success are countable and touchable.

However, we can miss out so much real fruits that we could have easily borne by seeing what God want us to see, and speaking what God want us to speak. We can bless a soul by speaking exactly the right thing to him at the right time, which is achievable only if we are close to God.

Just talked to a friend on the phone. He mentioned why he was able to be humble even though he was blessed with a lot of achievements – he lost an opportunity to make multi-millions in the past due to pride.

Now I understand why he is so humble even though he is such a super duper achiever.
He knows what is from God and what’s not. He keeps doing what he knows is God’s will. He resisted other opportunities that he knew he was not passionate about – such as teaching Sunday school.

I think it takes a lot of courage to resist doing what most people think is noble and right, and focus on what you really should do.

Before he started the several companies that made him multi-millions recently, he had gone through a “desert” period – doing a phD in his field – it took a lot of rejections before he could graduate.

But after he graduated he soared. His wealth exploded.

The key lesson I think I learned from his sharing is: do God’s will everyday.
He seems to have such an easy time discerning God’s will. To me, I think it’s the hardest part for many Christians. We often come up with lofty idea on our own that distract ourselves from God’s plan.

Upon asking, he told me he had a godly grandma who had nursed him for 18 years (My estimate). Godly influence has played a major role in his formation.

In the parable of the seed, some seeds were crowded by weeds. (Mark 4:13-20)

Not too long ago I had been reading some books and websites on time managements, wealth, productivity, and health.

They gave me many good ideas, but soon I found that I had to go through many trial and error to get to the best ones.

That made me miss my coach, Holy Spirit. When I still very much used to focusing on living a spirit driven life, every step I took I asked the Spirit first. I sought God’s specific will before I proceed, even for what to eat at dinner.

During that period of time, every step I took was precise, wasteless, no unnecessary actions. Everything I do seem to connect to profitable results that lead to more effectiveness. God was able to engineer my circumstance so that every action I take in accordance to His will always bring multiple good results.

To live in such a way was like being on call all the time. It was stressful to me. I gave up that lifestyle later, although I experienced God intensively because of that lifestyle.

I exchanged that lifestyle for a more predicable, self-driven, and planning based one. I wanted my life to be predicable and knew where I was going instead of a sharp turn after another on the call from the Holy Spirit.

I read many books and articles to increase my own decision-making, problem solving skill, instead of relying on God to guide me step by step.

I did it the same way for the Bible and Christians books. I wanted to lay out a study plan for the Bible and make a schedule. I wanted to do “Christian” in a systematic, predicable way.

For example, when the discipline of Christian meditation first entered my mind, all I was thinking was how to integrate Bible meditation into my daily live, without thinking about following the prompting of the Spirit. I said to my self how much verses I wanted to memorize each day, how deep I should go into in my personal bible study, and how often I should change my study topic.

You can’t start anything without the Holy Spirit! So the result was that I had started doing meditation many times, and every time I fell off the wagon quickly.

The best I could get in this lifestyle is randomness. And I have to overcome many obstacles, wrong turns, trials and errors, in order to achieve something.

Had I devoted my all to a spirit-driven life, everything would be more efficient and more direct – Take the leap of faith and understand the big picture later, rather than to understand first, and then take actions.

The Seeds From The Holy Spirit

The Spirit will give you ideas and directions on everything, micro and macro, in a still, small voice. It’s easy to crowd it out by all kind of worldly ideas, human reasoning, good ideas (Not best), visions (not from God), fears, worries, desires to control, and busy.

In whatever you do, you will succeed if you simply find out what those seeds are, where they are, and protect them with your total efforts.

How do you protect the seeds from the Holy Spirit? Exercise your discernment skill daily! The voice of the Holy Spirit usually accompanies God’s words. Jot it down when the Spirit give you highlight on scriptures. Meditate on them day and night with the Holy Spirit (Like conversation with the Spirit). Declare them loud. Think about all kind of ways to apply them. Trust your coach!

At first, the seeds are hidden underground. But if you nourish them carefully, they will grow, though slowly. Growth take place but human eyes can’t see. And later, they bears many fruits.

Guard your seeds carefully with the Holy Spirit!
